Full Time Indicative Base Package Value: $345,363 to $455,052 (Pro Rata part time) - Excluding Attraction and Retention Incentive (ARIn)

Indicative Base Package inclusive of

  • Base Salary $204,936 to $274,696
  • Superannuation (12.5%)
  • Private Practice Allowance – Based on Scheme A (other scheme's available)
  • Professional development allowances
  • On-call allowance 17.4%
  • Mobile Phone allowance

Generous leave provisions, including up to 5 weeks training/education leave and up to 5 weeks annual leave per annum

Annual Leave Loading 17.5%

Note: Starting base salary will be negotiated within this classification for the successful candidate, depending on experience and expertise.

Canberra Health Services is seeking a permanent Staff Specialist/s capable of generalist practice across both Obstetrics and Gynaecology to work at Canberra Hospital and/or North Canberra Hospital.

Canberra Hospital:

The Division of Women, Youth and Children (WYC) within Canberra Hospital provides a broad range of primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare services. Service provision is based on a family-centred, interdisciplinary approach to care, in partnership with consumers and other service providers.

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Canberra Hospital provides tertiary level obstetrics and gynaecological services to the ACT and surrounding regions. The Centenary Hospital for Women and Children has more than 3,700 births per year and is a level 6 referral centre for high-risk pregnancies for the region.

North Canberra Hospital:

The Women and Children Division within North Canberra Hospital is a level 4 service that provides inpatient, ambulatory and community care across maternity, gynaecology and neonatal (level 3 Special Care Nursery) services to the ACT and surrounding regions. NCH has approximately 2000 births per year. Service provision is based on a family-centred, interdisciplinary approach to care, in partnership with consumers and other service providers.

The successful applicant/s must have RANZCOG Fellowship and possess excellent communication skills, an ability to collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, and a drive for teaching and quality improvement.

This position/s will be embedded in the relevant Obstetrics and Gynaecology Unit, with pro-rata on call duties and contribution to inpatient management.

Please note prior to commencement successful candidates will be required to:

  • Hold Specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
  • Meet credentialing requirements and receive an Endorsed scope of clinical practice from the Medical Dental Appointments Advisory Committee (MDAAC)
  • Undergo a pre-employment National Police Check.
  • Comply with Canberra Health Services Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination policy.
