Remuneration:   $549,849 up to $679,037 per annum (Approx Remuneration package) (Paid pro-rata for engagement period or part time employee)

About the role 

As a Senior Staff Specialist or Staff Specialist (Obstetrics & Gynaecology), you'll join a dedicated team providing high quality specialist care across one of Australia's largest and most diverse health service regions. Based at Mount Isa Hospital, the regional birthing hub for North West Queensland, you’ll work across a contemporary maternity and gynaecology service supporting approximately 420 births annually and caring for women from rural, remote and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

  • Deliver a broad scope of obstetric and gynaecological care, including operative gynaecology, colposcopy, outreach services and maternity care. 
  • Utilise and further develop advanced point-of-care ultrasound skills across all trimesters, including early pregnancy and fetal wellbeing assessment. 
  • Provide clinical leadership, teaching and supervision to trainees, junior medical staff and multidisciplinary team members while supporting quality improvement and research initiatives.

Competitive remuneration package based on full-time equivalent value up to $679,037 (Paid pro-rata for engagement period or part time employee) comprising: 

  • Base salary ranges between $8,303.90 and $10,528.40 (L18-L27) (Paid pro-rata for engagement period or part time employee). 
  • Long Service Leave and Sick Leave accrual. 
  • 5 weeks annual recreational leave. 
  • Generous employer contribution to superannuation of 12.75%. 
  • Attraction and retention incentive allowance of 50% base annual salary. 
  • Regional and rural attraction allowance of 15% base annual salary. 
  • Motor vehicle allowance. 
  • Professional development allowance and leave of 3.6 weeks p.a. 
  • Inaccessibility allowance.

Requirements 

  • Mandatory requirements are a relevant tertiary degree qualification and appropriate registration/licences with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). 
  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia. 
  • Fellow of Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG). 
  • Travel: The position may require travel by commercial or charter plane and/or vehicle to other Hospital/s and/or Health Centre/s dependent on travel requirements. 
  • Credentialing and Scope of Clinical Practice: The position requires the incumbent required to undergo the credentialing and scope of clinical practice process in accordance with NWHHS policy. 
  • Shift Work: The position may require the incumbent to be rostered outside of ‘ordinary hours’. 
  • The position requires the incumbent to fulfil clinical on-call requirements in Obstetrics and Gynaecology practice and undertake on-call in line with their approved scope of clinical practice.  
  • C Class Motor Vehicle Licence. 
  • Pre-employment screening will be conducted for the successful applicant, including Criminal History checks. 
  • This is a VPD risk role and may require evidence of vaccination or immunity to: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Tuberculosis. 
  • A period of probation may apply.
