Royal Darwin Hospital RANZCOG Advanced training registrars 2027

Job Description

Position: Advanced RANZCOG trainee (Level 5 & 6) 12-month position commence 1st Feb 2027

Job description:

Royal Darwin Hospital (RDH) is a central part of the Top End Health Service (TEHS) and is a dynamic and rewarding place to work.

The maternity service has a large catchment area across the Northern Territory providing tertiary level care and supporting rural birthing units in Gove and Katherine as well as midwives, nurses and GP’s throughout the Northern Territories remote communities.

The O&G department has both a strong focus on generalist O&G training as well as dedicated clinics for maternal fetal medicine presentations, gynaecology oncology, vulval disorders, urodynamics/pelvic floor surgery, pregnancy choices and a hospital supported homebirth program.

As a senior registrar you will have the opportunity to enhance your clinical skills with a wide variety of operative gynaecology and high-risk obstetrics, but the learning goes beyond the delivery room or operating theatre. Outreach clinics will see you delivering care including colposcopy, ultrasound and simple procedures in remote communities through which you will gain a greater understanding of the challenges of delivering safe and culturally appropriate women’s health care in the Top End.

You will be working with clinicians who are passionate about delivering comprehensive care to First Nations women, are engaged in public health and are advocates for women’s rights. We have affiliations with Charles Darwin University and the Menzies research institute which provide opportunities for building on your teaching and research experience and relationships with pacific island countries for those interested in Global Health.

You will be able to participate in the weekly education programs, quality and safety activities and act as mentor to the junior registrars and GP trainees. We create a supportive environment for you to advance both your clinical and professional development in readiness for your transition to a consultant.

Darwin has an engaging social scene and welcoming community with local doctors participating in sports, performing arts, Yolngu language classes and much, much more!
