Short-term paid deployment — November 2023
BACKGROUND
The health system in Papua New Guinea (PNG) has been challenged by increasing demand for care of people with COVID-19, impacting the capacity of the PNG health system to safely meet essential needs and to control infection risk in health facilities. The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) has consulted with PNG stakeholders (COVID19 National Control Centre [NCC], World Health Organization in PNG [WHO], Port Moresby General Hospital [PMGH], ANGAU Memorial Provincial Hospital [AMPH]) on a proposal to deploy clinicians to PNG to provide further support to the COVID-19 response.
