About the Position and Role

After nearly a decade of long and valuable service to the women and families of the Bega Valley, our local Obstetrician and Gynaecologist has resigned and has left his post in mid- June 2022.

An opportunity now exists for two specialist Obstetricians and Gynaecologists to work in Bega from that time.

South East Regional Hospital, which opened in 2016, is one of the two main modern hospitals in Southern NSWLHD and is located in the Yuin Nation near the beautiful south coast of NSW. Clients and patients can be seen across a number of settings, including community health centres, in hospital or their homes as required. Aboriginal health services are available throughout the service. Our team of friendly, highly trained health professionals provide excellent services for residents and visitors. SERH and Pambula District Hospital are part of the Coastal Network within the Southern NSW Local Health District.

In 2021 SERH birthed 280 babies. The maternity service is a Level 3-4 capability with on-site Paediatrician support. We have a specialist Paediatrics service and care for neonates, paediatric in-patients children in a 6 bed ward and a 6-bed post-operative area as well as substantial general and development outpatient clinics.

There is great local demand for Gynaecology services as well. SERH undertakes primarily general gynaecology and this role includes access to regular operating lists and the opportunity to bring a special gynaecology interest/subspecialty to the area.

You will work with a team of committed midwives and GP Obstetricians to provide a multi-disciplinary and contemporary maternity service.  SERH is part of The Canberra Hospital Tiered Perinatal Network, with highly functional and collaborative care arrangements which provides great support to the whole of SNWLHD.

We are keen to implement a 7 day on; 7 day off collaborative model of care, working with very good local GP Obstetricians and Midwives.  Opportunities include an option to explore continuing professional development at The Canberra Hospital as part of any 7 on 7 off job plan.

This is great opportunity to be part of renewal of a highly regarded local service and become part of the progressive SNSWLHD Obstetrics/Maternity and Gynaecology Network

We are looking for the right Obstetrician and Gynaecologists to work with us; community minded, highly skilled and innovative.

We are amenable and open to all sorts of models of engagement that might suit your personal situation.
