Job Description

12 month position for Advanced Trainee for Gynaecologic Oncology for 2023. Three positions available across two campuses - RBWH and Mater Hospitals.

 

Purpose

To undertake emergency, inpatient and outpatient care of Gynaecologic Oncology patients. To assist and be trained in various aspects of Gynaecologic Oncology surgery including colorectal and urological procedures relevant to Gynaecologic Oncology practice. Undertake relevant training in Medical and Radiation oncology under the direction of the Director of Medical and Radiation Oncology or his/her representative. Undertake research under the direction of the Director of Research in Gynaecologic Oncology.

 

Key accountabilities

  • To co-ordinate inpatient and outpatient care of Gynaecologic Oncology patients under the supervision of the Consultants.
  • Advanced Trainees will rotate between RBWH (8 months) and the Mater Hospital (4 months).
  • To assist at and be trained in various aspects of Gynaecologic Oncology surgery including colorectal and urological procedures relevant to Gynaecologic Oncology practice.
  • To undertake relevant training in Radiation therapy under the direction of the Director of Radiation Therapy.
  • To undertake relevant training in Medical Oncology under the direction of the Director of Medical Oncology.
  • To undertake clinical and/or laboratory research at the direction of the Director of QCGC Research.
  • Training of O&G registrars and Residents in procedures and clinical management of patients.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings, Morbidity and Mortality meetings and Journal Clubs as designated by the Gynaecologic Oncology unit.
  • Provide expert clinical services for a specialty area.
  • Provide expert leadership to clinical and service improvement activities and initiate, encourage and participate in innovative treatments and care aimed at achieving demonstrable improvement of service outcomes.
  • Foster the promotion of standards of excellence in the provision of clinical and public health services.
  • Implement and undertake major teaching and education initiatives and responsibilities within the specialty area.
  • Provide expert consultancy/advisory services as required to both internal and external agencies that are relevant to the health industry.
  • Actively participate in and maintain memberships in a range of organisational committees.
  • Facilitate and encourage innovation and changes by adopting contemporary approaches to clinical service delivery creating a high level performance culture within the service.
