The Clinical Director of Obstetrics and Gynaecology is a senior role that provides clinical and strategic leadership to the clinical team and supports the Midwifery Unit Manager to ensure efficient and effective management of the Department.
Reporting to the Director of Medical Services at Wagga Wagga Base Hospital the Clinical Director will provide leadership in line with the MLHD core values and to provide expertise and advice to the Director of Medical Services with regard to clinical matters, planning and policy.
The position leads on quality improvements and procedure to maintain clinical governance framework for the medical workforce.
The position is available as a full time (40 hours) Staff Specialist with 8 hours for Clinical Director administration time, or 40 hours as Visiting Medical Officer with 8 hours for Clinical Director administration.
This role comes with an opportunity for a conjoint appointment to the UNSW Rural Clinical School. As well as scope for significant academic collaboration with The National Biological Standards Laboratory and The School of Veterinary Science based in Wagga Wagga at Charles Sturt University (CSU).
You will have substantial experience in in women's health, with clinical competence in procedural obstetrics including assisted delivery and caesarean deliveries and management of obstetrical emergencies.
Registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and hold a Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG) or equivalent.
You will have demonstrated ability to work in a complex clinical environment, excellent clinical skills and judgment together with teamwork, time management and problem solving skills in the clinical settings and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
The successful applicant will be expected to participate in all aspects of antenatal and intrapartum care, and to help develop and expand gynaecological outpatient and operative services. As well as participating in a 1 week in 5, 24 hour on-call roster.
