The Townsville Hospital and Health Service is the largest tertiary health service in northern Australia; we are responsible for the delivery of healthcare services, education and research within a region covering over 149,500km with a population of approximately 250,000 people.

The Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department is currently seeking a Staff Specialist - Maternal Fetal Medicine to join their team on a permanent part-time basis, 40 hours per fortnight.

About your opportunity
The Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) Department in Townsville provides tertiary fetal and maternal services to North Queensland. The Neonatal Intensive Care service is based in Townsville and in combination MFM and NICU units are responsible for the delivery of high-quality perinatal care to high-risk neonates and mothers in Northern Queensland.

You will participate in the general Obstetric and Gynaecology on-call roster as per the service requirements and work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team including participation in Perinatal M&M and MFM planning meetings.

Role requirements:

  • Qualified as a medical practitioner, and as specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with the Medical Board of Australia and either qualifications as a Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) subspecialist with Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists or currently in training to obtain MFM subspecialty (MFM training fellow with RANZCOG).
  • Appointment to this position requires Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager prior to commencement of clinical duties.
  • Current 'C' class motor vehicle licence.
  • COVID-19 vaccination: It is a condition of employment for all prospective and existing health service employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19 (first does by 30 Sept 2021, second dose by 31 Oct 2021). All employees must maintain vaccination protection and provide evidence confirming they have received the prescribed number of doses of the vaccine.

Generous remuneration package value up to $220,503 p.a. (+ other applicable allowances/benefits) comprising salary range of $88.25 to $111.89 p.h. (L18-L27), 17.5% recreational leave loading, 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation, attraction and retention incentive allowance, regional and rural attraction allowance, motor vehicle allowance, professional development assistance (allowances and leave) and inaccessibility allowance (if applicable). Level of appointment is dependent upon experience and advanced qualifications.
