VISITING MEDICAL OFFICER WARRNAMBOOL O&G
About The Role
Warrnambool Obstetrics and Gynaecology is seeking an Obstetrician Gynaecologist to join our private practice.
Our current group of three is looking for another VMO to add to our growing practice. Our focus is on providing a high-quality patient centred care to the community. We pride ourselves in delivering a wide range of services including pelvic floor non-surgical and surgical management, advanced laparoscopic surgery with specific multidisciplinary endometriosis services, as well as a private outpatient antenatal program. We run a thriving fertility service providing access to both monitored ovulation induction and IVF in conjunction with Ballarat IVF.
Currently all O+G staff also have a public appointment at South West Healthcare and the successful applicant may be considered for appointment by South West Healthcare to provide obstetrics and acute gynaecology care on an on call roster for public patients. This includes labour ward management, antenatal care and public theatre lists. This role also focuses on quality and risk management activities, professional development and training and supervision of junior medical staff. The public component of the appointment will be recruited by the South West Healthcare Director of Medical Services and Director of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Interviews will be conducted with both teams to ensure a good fit across both models of care.
What You Bring
We expect the successful applicant will have a medical degree fully registrable with AHPRA, the qualification of FRANZCOG or other equivalent specialist qualification and we are open to a trainee in their final 6 months of training who is looking for a transition. We will be seeking effective communication, conflict management and team building skills, along with experience in training junior medical staff which is essential.
Work load would be flexible, but if desired, a relatively full workload from the outset is available. We are also very supportive of a work balance that would suit those with a young family.
What We Offer
Our private practice offers comfortable consulting rooms and procedure room with provision of nurses who specialise in procedures, fertility and dedicated theatre booking. We provide reception staff and a practice manager who will support all billing services. We provide collegial clinical support both academically and surgically and will assist in procuring and supporting out of town operating. We offer a friendly and pleasant working environment with a strong aim at bettering women’s healthcare in South West Victoria.
The Public health care provision will require appointment and contract negotiation with South West Healthcare. The VMO position would involve approx. 1:5 on call weekends and one on call day per week. It involves public antenatal clinic and theatre lists. It also allows access to professional development opportunities and teaching/ supervision.
