The Women’s Health Unit at Peninsula Health is looking to recruit motivated Obstetric and Gynaecology Year 5 or 6 Senior Registrars to join our dynamic and positive team.

Peninsula Health provides care for around 3000 births a year. We provide a Level 5 maternity service (32 weeks on ward) and cater for high risk pregnancies through our Complex Pregnancy Clinic, Fetal Diagnostic Service and Fetal Monitoring Service. We provide acute and elective gynaecological services that includes AGES level 5 laparoscopy and gynaecology oncology.

Successful candidates will be offered:

  • Opportunities to manage complex Obstetric and Gynaecology patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Supervision and back up by Consultant Staff with scope to extend to manage patients more independently as appropriate.
  • Regular exposure to supervised gynaecological operating including open surgery, advanced laparoscopic surgery and pelvic floor surgery.
  • Regular shifts in antenatal clinic and on Labour Ward (including after hours duties) with participation in supervision and teaching of Junior Trainees and Medical Students.
  • The ability to perform theatre lists independently with indirect supervision, according to experience and credentialing status.
  • Customisation of rostering where possible for Trainees who have particular interest or need for specific skill development. Regular teaching and journal club sessions.
  • The opportunity to develop skills and experience in medical education and clinical governance activities.
  • The opportunity to complete advanced training modules in generalist obstetrics and generalist gynaecology.

The Unit prides itself on the support and mentoring we provide as well as the strong working relationship we have with midwives, nurses, Allied Health and other specialties. Research opportunities are available on site with statistical and Human Research Ethics Committee support.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • MB BS or equivalent General, Limited or provisional registration as a Medical Practitioner
  • RANZCOG Accredited Trainee in Year 5 or 6 of training.
  • Minimum 4 years experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
  • A positive and nurturing approach towards a multidisciplinary group of clinicians.
  • Sound clinical knowledge, skills and experience in contemporary medical and evidence based practice.
  • Ability to work as an effective member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Clear police check and a current Working with Children's Check.

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

  • Experience in planning and delivering medical education.
  • Experience in patient safety and quality activities.
  • Skills in clinical leadership.
