This position is an unaccredited gynaecological oncology training position , accredited for advanced STP training position for a pre-FRANZCOG (year 5-6) trainee. If you are intending to apply for CGO training, this is a perfect pre-selection year.
Selection Criteria
- Pursuing a future career in gynaecological oncology or gaining advanced surgical skills (open/laparoscopic) for complex gynaecology
- NSW Medical Board Registration or eligible for registration
- Pre-FRANZCOG certification (year 5-6)
- Previous clinical and research experience, preferably with gynaecological cancer patients
- Previous knowledge and skills in complex gynaecological procedures/ gynae oncology including the ability to perform more complex gynaecological cancer surgery under supervision
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Good organisational skills
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
- Focused on providing patient-centred wholistic evidence-based care
- Ability to mentor and teach more junior members of the team
- Commitment to patient safety and completion of mandatory training
Description of position:
In addition to involvement in surgical procedures for gynaecological cancer patients as primary or assistant surgeon under direct supervision, 1-2 days per week, this position involves
- Be responsible for the day to day medical and surgical care of patients in gynaecological oncology, and under supervision for peritonectomy patients in collaboration with the RPA advanced gastrointestinal surgery team.
- Participate in the teaching of registrars, residents and medical students
- Initiate and completing a research project involving gynaecological cancer
- Be involved in the continuing development of the hospital as a tertiary referral centre
- Some time working in private practice clinic ( up to one day per week)
- Surgical assisting at Prince of Wales Private Hospital every second Saturday, at fee-for service assistant renumeration rates, is part of salary
