Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners for the above part time position in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District. The position will be primarily located at Nepean Hospital and Nepean Clinical School within the Department of Women’s Health- Obstetrics & Gynaecology.

Successful applicants will provide both subspecialist Uro-gynaecology and a component of general obstetric and gynaecological services. These may include admitting, consultative, diagnostic, procedural, outpatient and on call services as determined and required by the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health Network (NBMLHD). Appointees may be required to participate in other on call rosters at nominated facilities within NBMLHD as determined by clinical operations.

 Positional duties include:

  • Provision of Uro-gynaecology services at Nepean Hospital and associated University of Sydney academic unit
  • Assist in provision of Obstetric and Gynaecological inpatient, outpatient and consultative services.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of quality with all aspects of their service delivery and the efficient use of resources.
  • Participation in a shared out-of-hours roster as on-call for the speciality.
  • Supervision of trainees and participation in the divisional education programme. Undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.

 The number of sessions will be commensurate to a 16 hours workload and include; specialist Uro-gynaecology outpatient clinics, gynaecological operating and other Gynaecology related and on call roster. Appointees may be eligible for credentialing and privileging across all other facilities in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.


  1. Possess or be eligible for registration with Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA);
  2. Possess Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) and/or equivalent specialist recognition as provided for by the Health Insurance Act 1997 and Public Hospital (Visiting Medical Officers Sessional Contracts) Determination, and Evidence of continuing medical education and self-monitoring/audit practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements of the position;
  3. Sound clinical knowledge in Obstetrics & Gynaecology particularly in the subspecialty of Uro-Gynaecology demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position including evidence of participation in quality assurance activities relevant to the specialty;
  4. High level interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team;
  5. Demonstrated commitment to teaching and junior medical staff supervision consistent with contemporary best practice supervisi

  7. Demonstrates the skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical /Dental Practitioner including modelling of a high standard of professional behaviour to junior medical staff;
  8. Sound clinical knowledge in the subspecialty of Uro-Gynaecology demonstrated by relevant qualifications and/or appropriate post-Fellowship clinical experience.
  9. Familiarity with research concepts and commitment to support basic, applied or clinical research as required within the Department
