About the role

Looking to make your mark? We have a new opportunity available for an O&G Specialist to join our team.

We are looking for a motivated clinician who is a Generalist. However, any special interest would be nurtured by the unit and colleagues. In particular a special interest in infertility, scanning, quality improvement/ governance, Obstetrics and Obstetrics leadership would be a good complement to the mix.

You will be joining a team of clinicians who are highly motivated, friendly and provides great peer support. Our team has a range of special interests including advanced laparoscopic, uro-gynaecology, gynae-oncology and obstetrics.

The unit currently has seven Senior Medical Officers (SMO)'s, and the on call roster is 1:7. The team is supported by eight registrars, two SHOs and one HO.

One of our senior SMO's has reduced his working hours and we are able to offer a 16 hours per week (0.4 FTE) role, however the unit is undergoing a service sizing and this may give the appointee an opportunity to further increase their FTE if they desire.

Our unit

Hutt Hospital is a busy 260-bed facility covering Lower Hutt and Upper Hutt cities. Serving a population of 139,000, Hutt supports approximately 2,200 deliveries per year and we perform over 1500 elective and acute gynaecological and obstetric procedures per annum. We work closely with Wellington Tertiary Hospital which is only 20 minutes away from Hutt Hospital. Wellington Hospital also provides support and tertiary services for the Lower North Island.
