This position requires a Registrar (PGY3 or above) who is interested in attaining valuable diverse experience in obstetrics and gynaecology in a large rural hospital environment. This position would be particularly suited to a rural GP or GP trainee or someone interested in the FRANZCOG pathway.
The position consists of up to 12 months in obstetrics and gynaecology. Supervision in the O&G role is provided by the staff Obstetrician and Gynaecologist (FRANZCOG), Visiting Consultants and Visiting General Practitioners.
O&G role responsibilities include management of all obstetrics, gynaecology and paediatric inpatients, deliveries of all non-private patients including Caesarean sections with specialist surgeon support, attendance at antenatal outpatient clinics and provision of support and supervision of O&G intern. This position will also participate in antenatal and pre-admission clinic under the supervision of the Consultants and in partnership with midwives and nurses seeing patients referred from General Practitioners in the community. The Unit has an average of 350 deliveries per annum. There is no on-call, night shift or weekends in the O&G role unless mutually agreed and arranged with the Clinical Director.
NB: WHCG is accredited for training towards the RANZCOG Diploma.
