Fixed Term Position - Commencing 1st February 2021
Up to 43 Hours per week available in the Combined public and private sectors.
The Laparoscopic Surgery Fellow is responsible for the provision of excellent clinical care to women who are outpatients or inpatients of the Royal Women's Hospital. This position is suitable for accreditation with RANZCOG as a full time Advanced training position and is an AGES-accredited position.
The clinical fellowship in advanced laparoscopic surgery with the Gynaecology 1 Unit at the Royal Women’s Hospital is supervised by expert consultant gynaecologists. The full-time fellowship will also include surgical training in the private sector at Epworth Freemasons Hospitals (Victoria Pde & Clarendon Street, East Melbourne), Cabrini Hospital (Brighton & Malvern) and Frances Perry Hospital (Parkville). This position does not include any public mandatory obstetric after-hours or service provision unless desired by the trainee.
This position is suitable for trainees who are in the last year of their FRANZCOG training and have passed both the written and oral exams, or candidates who have completed FRANZCOG.
Fellows are expected to commit to a two-year training program and to participate fully in clinical service, research, and training in laparoscopic surgery.
The purpose of the position is to train in advanced laparoscopic skills, increase operative nursing staff awareness and education in endoscopic procedures, involve yourself in the teaching and mentoring of junior trainees in laparoscopic surgery, continue educational activities/liaison with registrars and perioperative staff, establish and maintain knowledge of technological advances with industry, improve standards in gynaecological services and facilities and to embrace this leadership role to maintain and continue clinical research. Fellows are expected to commit to the training program and to participate fully in clinical services, research and training in Laparoscopic Surgery for a two (2) year period.
